I have a few 50 cents from 1963 to 65 and some dollar sealed and cut out from the set. I'm thinking of removing them from the seal and putting them in a plastic flip (it will better fit in my collection),I need your advice if this will affect the value of these coins ?... thanks for your suggestions. What do you mean by sealed? Do you mean in an ICCS flip? If not, then I doubt it will adversly affect the value further if they were already cut out from the set.

Sounds like they're from a Prooflike set. If the set is already cut up, cutting single sealed coins out won't hurt the value at all.

If you mean they are in original mint pliofilm then cut em out without even asking.

The only draw back is they will eventually tone in a flip. Won't matter for value but it may matter for appearance down the road for some.

Thanks for mentioning that CoinHunter because I was under the impression that flips are intended for short term storage.
But I really don't know why......is that because of possible PCV in the soft plastic or possibly just an "old wives tale"?

Most cello packed coins can be trimmed down & inserted into a flip while they are still sealed. I like to do this with some of the modern coins I get from the mint - colored quarters, commemorative loonies & toonies, etc. They're still protected in the cello, but now I can slip an information slip into the other side of the flip (PVC free - just in case).

WFAB,
With the exception of some low quality submission flips, most quality flips (paper/plastic or plastic) on the market today do not contain PVCs. The toning will occur because air and moisture will often get inside a poorly sealed flip.
