Actually, I think you may have a nice lamination.

I didn't say only lamination. There is definitely PMD going on with this coin, but I believe this coin also exhibits a lamination error.

Thanks guys! The coin no doubt has PMD (even I could figure that out) However, it still looks like something else going on. I believe TypeCoin is in the right track, will take it with me to Casper's in South Bend and see what they think. I'm just trying to learn the difference between mint & PMD...so I can perhaps come on the forum and help others...and quickly spot a mint error coin.

I'm thinking environmental damage. Metal detector find. Not a lamination but hard built-up corrosion. The type of soil you find coppers in and how much moisture was in the ground affects the amount of corrosion a dug copper will have.

Agree with stoneman227, tar/dirt/corrosion buildup (those black areas). See how the design is pretty flat with it, and where copper is exposed the design is of normal height?

Although, that area to the right of Lincoln's nose looks like it could be lamination. It seems to go from Copper to Copper, but it's difficult to tell since the camera focus isn't on that area

It's flaking off is caused by the PMD, most likely environmental damage. I've found several cents like so CRHing.
