I have identified it as Fuld OH100B-3a, which from my research is an R7 storecard. I would like to know more about it and its approximate value.

Obverse says: Stereoscopic Pictures And Instruments For Sale P. O. Box 2566

Teverse says: W. K. Lanphear Manufacturer Of Metalic Cards Cincinnati Ohio

The pictures are not mine. They are representative of the token and its condition.

Hi,

I find this site,

http://auction.tokencatalog.com/ , to be helpful every now and then for token descriptions and realized auction prices.

This site also did disclose your exact token but in a lower grade:

http://tokencatalog.com/token_recor...reate_uid=39

With the aid of some of the related contact info. on this site you should be able to dig up more details.

Good luck

One graded F-15 realized $75 at auction a few years ago. I had one years ago. Based upon my experience, I suspect that it's an R-6 and likely overrated at R-7. Tokens dealing with early photography tend to catch my eye and subject matter often drives the price of early tokens.

Very interesting TypeCoin

Fuld 2nd edition, page 301, does show a listing of 100B-3a as a R-7. But in the new 3'd edition there is a referral to OH165CY where the Lanphear die is identified as number 33300 on page 422. There is no listing showing that die paired with die 1434 (EG Selby). Fuld 3 shows just two reverse dies paired with 33300. They are 33310 and 33320.

I noted in the tokencatalog link from above the comment by Steve Hayden that..."Thought to have been issued by E. G. Selby of Bryan Ohio although possibly a sample produced by diesinker Lanphear."

Your token is the same die pairing, and significantly higher grade, as the one Hayden was commenting about.

I wonder if an email to Steve, with pics would be approporiate

Here's the actual coin. I think I over-exaggerated the grade.

Still a niece piece. We now know of three examples, both pics posted and the Hayden auctioned piece. That would make this die pairing a R-9. Assuming at least double that number hiding in collections a Rarity rating of 7 or 8 doesn't seem unreasonable.
