Obtained this in the 70s. It looks like it was struck way off center twice. Anyone familiar with this type of error? It would be interesting to know how this happened.

Looks like a copper Memorial cent that did not get put into the color properly before striking and was struck off center twice. VERY nice error!

Might be struck twice off-center, or it might be struck off-center once in a dual die press with the planchet overlapping both coining chambers (barely).

It's not a saddle (tandem) strike. The wrong parts of the design are showing. What you have are two sequential off-center strikes.
Error coin writer and researcher.

I couldn't see enough of the design on the smaller off-center strike to tell if it was a saddle strike or not.
