While obtaining a "pulse" for the rare coin and bullion markets seems an almost effortless task these days, I'm finding it a bit more challenging for paper money. To clarify, my intention is not to play the market in terms of flipping undervalued items for profit, or really even for determining which pieces might be better "investments" than others. I collect what I love, and that will never change. However, as my modest collection grows, curiosity causes me to seek out where my notes might fall in the grand scheme of things.

Anyone have any suggestions for FREE resources for reasonably up-to-date information on this subject?

The best FREE and up-to-date option that gives you current market prices are ebay sold auctions and Heritage archives. Heritage is especially nice because one can look back to the early 2000's to see how the market was then compared to now.

Track and Price currency software (Quick Google search will bring it up) has a 30 day free trial that gives auction archives back to the mid 1990's and is very comprehensive.

Also, an inexpensive subscription to the Bank Note Reporter is a useful summary to have at hand.
