Congratulation! This is a nice addition to any collection. Who cares if it's worn? Imagine how many hands it went through and for how long. That's history! I'd rather acquire an important type or scarcer ruler in fine, if that's what my budget allows, than not to have one in my collection. I doubt any Roman collector would turn down an EID MAR denarius in aG for $10 ;)

This is a nice coin and a scarce find. The wear gives it more character.

That is an appealing denarius of Aelius. I still have not been able to find one for my collection.

thanks all! I'm happy with it, like you are saying: its a scarce emperor with a recognisable bust for a fair price.

Congratulations on the acquisition Dutchgulden. How long was this one minted for?

The coin itself was issued in 137 AD

Aelius
Reigned: 136 - 1st Jan. 138 AD

Aelius was appointed consul in 136 AD and again the following year, then sent to Pannonia, as governor.
Before he could succeed, Aelius died on 1st January 138

I would say go for a nice roman!

Aelius denarii are not common and you really won't find any at a local coin show or shop. However, if you go to Vcoins and search for Aelius you probably will find 2 dozen for sale.
