Hi Everyone

Thought I would share another find that I made last winter !!

Good for tokens are a fun find !! they provide a true ring of History!!

especially the ones such as this ,that do not carry a store name or a business or a calvary fort inscription, it leaves the imagination to carry on with possibilities,, until perhaps thru research from local lore or and other means the identification can be made!!

This token remains a bit of a mystery, although the possibilities have been narrowed a bit,to a few possibilities no conclusive ID has been made.

Do you think it's possible that this was a generic token made in large quantities and then purchased by various businesses for use? 50,100 number on the one side could be unique with each business purchasing a lot of say, 5,000. That way the business would know that they only need to honor 50,000-55,000. Just a thought...

Hi Susan
That is a very good possibility and one that Ive investigated a bit locally, but without any confirmation,,

The area where I found this token Has been used since the mid 1800's as a Calvary campsite, carnival grounds and local farmers markets, festivals, and all kinds of sundry things even now .

it is possible it came in with the Buffalo Soldiers or a carnival, or was in fact a local Business token?

I probly will never know for sure, but thats ok too.

Rick
