Just got this, is it the 1942/1 D overdate? Hard to tell with the gunk aroung the date. Is there any other definative die marker for it? Thanks for all your

That looks like Mechanical Doubling to me.

If it is mechenical doubling on the 2 then why is it only on the top left and not the rest of it?

Machine Doubling can be very inconsistent. The die can "chatter" and do all kinds of damage to letters and numerals. This coin is perfect example of Machine Doubling.
