I found this coin about 10 years. I just realised I still have this coin in my lock box but have no clue what its worth or where it comes from. It would be nice if some one could get me some info

It's not a coin, but a medal of some kind. The characters are Chinese "seal script", used to make something "look old-fashioned" - the Chinese equivalent of Blackletter script, I suppose, only much older in origin.

Looks like a Taoist charm or medallion. I'll let one of the resident experts do the translation--that will help with the ID.

As for value, it's hard to say. It looks like gold, but is most likely just gold plated. Weight and diameter/thickness can help determine what it's made of. I would say there is a very good chance this is just a gift shop novelty. If so, value would be in the $5-20 range.

It is a Chinese New Years charm.

In the first image, the old man is holding a banner with the Chinese inscription gong xi fa cai which is the traditional greeting at the Chinese New Year (Spring Festival) wishing you prosperity.

The other inscriptions are written in ancient seal script.

The inscription at the right is zhao cai jin bao which translates as "money and treasures will be plentiful" or "attracts wealth and treasure".

The inscription at the left is wan shi ru yi which translates as "may things go as you wish".

On the reverse side, the inscription at the right is jin yu man tang which translates as "may gold and jade fill your halls".

The inscription at the left is fu shou fu gui which translates as "happiness, longevity, riches and honor".

The object in the middle is a Chinese "treasure bowl" which I discuss in detail here.
