Hi,
Anyone who know what this is? Real coin, some kind of token or just a fake? Gold-coloured. Weight 4.45 gram. Diameter 25 mm.

It is a Nurnberg counter token.
The writing mimics mediëval script
It is a replica of a coin from the spanish Netherlands
The arrows are found on a lot of coins, p.e.:

No, it's not a jeton. This is actually a brass "replica" of a silver real of Ferdinand and Isabella, the "Reyes Catolicos" type. Only the inscription is so badly blundered, it's almost unrecognizable as such. We've seen them quite often on the forum before; here's just one example.

I don't think we've ever figured out exactly where they came from, but given the sheer number of them that seem to be out there causing confusion with people that "find" them, I'd assume they were some kind of Reader's Digest-style mass-marketing gimmick, perhaps for a "Discovery of America" book.

Thanks for all the replies everyone! I found it in a 20 pound lot of tokens, medals and foreign coins that I bought and thought it might be a replica or fake. I couldn't tell what this one was or make out anything it said so I had to figure it out so I knew if it was good or junk. I did find a few really good items in the lot so I've been trying to identify and look up everything I'm not sure about just to make sure I don't miss something that's a keeper.

Thanks again for all the help!

Jon
