@Chequer I was at the RCM booth a few hours ago and the mint rep said that the artist for the coin would be there and would be singing the cardboard holders for the 25 cent pieces. I was under the impression that it would only be 2 25 cent pieces and not 1.00 worth but I might be mistaken.

Checked out the Gatewest Booth, Hub City, spoke to Steve Bromberg CC&C, saw some really neat error coins will post some pics later in the error section. Got some nice bargain bin picks, a '67 set, some bullion, the Leuchtturm table got a scale, spoke to the head of CCCS, really great chat. Found a 1939 Sterling Silver Royal Visit Medallion. I was happy with my purchases and got to meet some great hobby people. And nice gold nuggets.

For anyone heading down today, the Farmer's Market is on at the SeaPort (just behind the Westin) and there's lots of Free parking to be found on the weekend. The big lot across the street from Pier 21 is usually pretty empty.

Very nice show. Got the 50th anniversary of the flag coins with the holders. Unfortunately the artist was on break and I didn't get them signed. Halifax is busy with the Gay Pride parade today, so I was lucky to get out of the city before they blocked the roads. all told, very enjoyable.

@chq Yes, quite pleased with the 1870 coin, it was an impulse buy on my part I was surprised that the bids didn't take off on it and was happy when the hammer went down. I had a dealer check it for me at the coin show and was told it was a great buy and a great coin. I was sorry I didn't have more time to meet and greet and seek out CCF members. I enjoyed the time well spent and my granddaughter is more interested than before so that's a plus for me, no one else pays attention to me so I can drive her batty now:}

I went down for the second time today and dragged the wife along as we had just been to the market. She reluctantly came in to look around. She ended up spending more than me on some estate jewelry one of the dealers had. Made it much easier to justify what I had spent on coins the day before. :)

I had a great time at the show ... caught up with a number of Halifax Coin Club members, met some new people too. Picked up a nice looking Pittman '36 cent (not rare, I know, but pretty). Did stand in line at the RCM booth and got two cards with the quarters inside and had them signed ($1 total and the guy had to break a $20 for me lol). Lots of meetings, a few photos, and good people - great day. Oh, there were some really nice exhibits too, the de Pedery-Hunt one blew me away. One more meeting this morning and back home. Didn't spot a lime green shirt though! Would have loved to meet some CCF members - next time, hopefully (Ottawa next year).

Found this in my goody bag, thought it was pretty neat. Anyone know if it would be the new slab? I like this year's medal too.
