I can't believe no one has posted anything about the RCNA this weekend in Halifax? Has there been that much interest lost in shows? Or just summertime shows? I will be there Thursday and maybe Friday. Anybody else?

It is a slow time of year for sure. People enjoy summer and put collecting on the back burner. Let's face it the RCNA whilst a very respected organization , just is not that big a deal. The show is hardly the size of a U.S. Monthly or club show. I think you would have to be a hard core RCNA member to travel all the way to Halifax for this one. Expenses would be a killer for most. Plus the Canadian coin market is pretty soft right now.

I popped down to preview the auction this evening. I'll be down tomorrow (and likely Friday and Saturday too) We don't get much in the way of shows here so gotta take it in when I can. :)

I'm in meetings until 1:30pm, it appears. There should be a CCF meeting too somewhere.

I'm in for meeting up with other ccf members. If anyone has any idea as to where and when let me know.

All CCF members should wear a dancing fruit hat, so you'll be easily recognized. Maybe we can congregate at 2pm at the RCM booth and demand more than a dollar's worth of the new quarters.

If the auction is any indication , not too many are in attendance in Halifax. Sat through all of session two at my computer and either a packed room was sitting on their collective wallets or there were few floor bidders. Most stuff sold to either the mail or the Internet . Any one attend the auction in person ?

I had registered but didn't end up attending as I didn't need to be spending more than I already had at the exhibits.

Hi All I was at that RCNA, only a 3 hour drive and had some business to attend in the area. It was an opportunity to take my granddaughter who is starting to show some interest and we both attended the first night auction I couldn't resist a bid that I won on a MS65 1870 NFLD 20cent from Belzberg collection so far enjoying it.

@Pacificcoin I was at the auction earlier tonight. When I got there about 5 minutes after it began there were maybe 3 or 4 others in the room. The first section tonight was RCM lots. I won a few that I liked with little competition either from the floor or the online bidders. When I left they were starting the tokens section and perhaps 4 or 5 others came into the room.
