Never heard of PNG so I can't comment. It's always curious when very "high value" collectibles don't appear in first tier TPG holders. It's probably already been through the ICCS and/or PCGS offices, although you would never get confirmation of that from anyone.

I'd think it'd go more of an AU50 at PCGS or another TPG (liking the obverse). I'm not saying anything on authenticity for this one (as I am not familiar with counterfeits), but i'd stay away from it just because the situation seems fishy. thats my opinion

Is PNG grading trying to piggyback of the Professional Numismatists Guild?

Quote: What's your feeling... I wouldn't touch this one w/ a ten ft. pole... This 'could' end up being the kind of deal where a 98%+ rated seller suddenly decides to turn bad and figures that quickly closing his/her ebay acct. after receiving payment is worth the risk in light of the reward. Even though you probably would get your $ back because of ebay's financial policies in effect, the reimbursement and investigative processes definitely would be undesirable and time-consuming endeavors; both of which should be avoided like the plague.

Interesting...on the PNG website, under "verfication"tab, you can see a listing of every coin they have graded...mostly modern CDN coins

I have 3 or 4 PNG graded coins (not purchased because of the holder) - two of which seem accurate and two (MS cents) are optimistic. If this were my coin, it would likely go to PCGS.

For $285,000 I don't want anyone sending a coin in the mail, I'll pick it up and look at it......if I had $285,000..

Like tripoli I believe the coin has recently been in a PCGS or ICCS holder. You could have had an MS65 example a few months back for about $250,000, and that was about $50,000 over expectations. This coin is listed on ebay to try to give credibility to PNG. They must be top notch if someone has entrusted them to slab the King of Canadian coins, right?
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning... -from PCGS website

Listing is gone, along with about a dozen others violating ebay policy.
