1953-D 25c piece. it looks like there is a "D" rotated about 40 degrees under the mintmark.

Has all the earmarks of a repunched mint mark, but I can't find anything about it for that date and mm. Hopefully we'll get an Washington expert around to help us in the right direction.

I looked through the site an it doesn't have any of the die markers suggested.

@coinmaster so it did rotate during stamping then I would imagine. that picture you showed looks like it had a new D stamped on a old D where mine looks like it hit, then as it was pulling away rotated.
