Impossible to offer an educated opinion based on the photos provided.
I'm at MS-something.

I absolutely love this Pilgrim! It is stunning to look at. It's currently in a 'details' holder. I'm thinking about taking it out and resubmitting it to PCGS/NGC. Give me your opinions on that please. Thanks.

It's in an ANACS slab, so the opinion is less than reliable IMHO. Consider "MS 60 Details" - huh? Maybe "Uncirculated Details", but surely this is better than a 60! Send it to PNG; they know toning better than anyone. ANACS has a poor reputation for consistency and this is just another example of why.

You're right, it's much better than 60. That number is assigned because they put 'details' on the holder. At the time it was slabbed, this was their default number for Unc details, and 50 for AU details, so on and so forth down the line.
I leaning toward cracking and submitting to PCGS.

After you posted the 2nd set of pictures...I questioned my 1st opinion but thought I'd wait. There do appear to be issues with the coin - you can see hairlines around the word states and also near the star to the left under United on the obverse... and now that I see the toning again - it does look like it highlights the images - but isn't really toned the same across the images. It looks toned in the fields - but not toned on the Pilgrim or Ship?
Still an interesting coin.

Quote: ... There do appear to be issues with the coin - you can see hairlines around the word states and also near the star to the left under United on the obverse... What you're seeing there are die polish lines. They're not hairlines, although I can see how one might think that from photos and not being able to see the coin in hand. I see that same thing you're talking about with the toning at the very highest points on the reverse. I'm in the coin for a good price, so it might be worth sending it in with my other lot on my next submission. I'll keep you posted if I do. Thanks again.
