Made my occasional visit today to the local coin dealer ... and as always checked the box of 'junk' silver dollars.

There I found the third addition to my set of modern 'impaired' silver commemorative dollars ...

1986-S Statue of Liberty Centennial Dollar - PR55 (Cleaned)

1986-S-Statue-Of-Liberty-Dollar---Impaired-Proof

I could not resist for $16 ...

The coin joins my 1991-D USO dollar (AU50) and 1995-P Special Olympics (PR50) which I have previously shared with this forum.

To me ... it's just a special feeling to find one of these NCLT modern commemorative coins in impaired (worn) state.

Thanks for sharing Nickelsearcher....weird to think these are kicked around enough to get in this state. Always loved this design. My first and favorite modern. Good deal too.
Rest in Peace

In order to show that degree of use, you would think that the coins must have passed through a good number of hands. It astounds me that something so out of the ordinary would not be pulled from circulation long before it got to this point of wear.

Of course, they might have been pocket pieces at one time, too.

Nice pick up.

Mine had fingerprints on it so I made it a pocket piece.

Not the best pics but the current state of it.
