My theory as to the rarity of this piece is that the majority of the coins off this obverse were part of the excess batch that was sent back to the mint for melting.
Opinions, ideas, comments etc are appreciated and welcomed.

Nice find Dollarman. Glad you found something you've been looking for. Let us know what ICCS has to say.

Thanks guys, I will *try* to get some close ups and poast them on Thursday through my lcs buti can not say for sure. Any opinions of value? I have heard as high as $250+ if ms-60 but I think there is a slight chance it could hit as low as au-58.

what are you referring to when you mention quadruple HP?

Yup, it is a quadrupled die obverse, people seem to refer to the HP only though. There is doubling on this R and X in REX as well as the top of the bust....you need a larger screen to see it though.

I don't actually. I was only aware there was a double and triple HP, not a quad. I can't wait to see the pics!

There are many 2xHP dies, I have seen at least 3 and own one or two different ones. I have never seen a triple HP....the 4xHP is strange. It is not listed anywhere and I can't see any in the auction records I've checked. It is only listed in Charlton.

A quad-HP graded AU-55 by ICCS sold for US$63.07 on ebay in 2005. That's the only 4x that I'm aware of that crossed on the bay, but there may have been others.
