Was watching the PanAm games last night and the RCM ad came on for the 20.00 dollar Bugs Bunny coin. has anybody else seen this ad?. Or any other ad that RCM is running ?.
Wonder if the Mint is trying to boost their sales with ads because sales are down

I have seen the ad. It has been running for a few months I think. It's what got me into coins. I must be easy prey.

It's probably something else.
No add could make "inception" of the coin collecting hobby.

I didn't even know the Mint sold collector coins before seeing that ad. Trust me...it's what got me interested in coins.

No way :)
But the Mint is the issuer...so sales too.

Before started to buy NCLT, I tried to decline the idea, that to get desired coin is very simple - just to buy it from Mint or dealer (cause previously used to take out from circulation all the commemorative or old coins)...but later somehow entered to NCLT purchase.

think twice, what for and why do you need the coin, or do you need it at all before buying.

I saw the ad in SoCal as well.

Also, yesterday I saw a commercial from Littleton hawking their ATB Quarter set with album.

Yes. Why, you don't watch TV?

Except the movies, that I can download / get everywhere, there is nothing to watch. Brain-washing and time-waist, imo.
Was relevant till 90-ies, when the TV was one of the sources to get info. Nowdays everything in the internet.

Added:
Just thought, that it funny to hear the kid saying "watch computer", since he never watched TV at home.

I rarely watch TV and if I do it's a PVRed or on demand show without commercials (still, rarely watch tv though).

When it comes to a point in time that a Crown Corporation such as RCM must advertise on TV to sell high priced trinkets only classified as coins (as opposed to medallions) for the reason that they bear the queen's effigy, one has to wonder how it came to be that even coinage has become heavily commercialized. Obviously there's a strong network between all RCMs and UK, causes speculation under who's mandate does it operate under and what "effigy rights" it pays.

Could be that the Mint sales are slowing down, so why not try an ad and see what happens

Seems it's become a desperate vicious circle......unless our tax dollars are paying for RCM advertising, the additional cost of TV ads must be absorbed into their bottom line -- which then results in even higher prices. High prices are already a common consumer complaint, impeding increased sales.

It's obvious that otherwise the x for x coins are leading in RCM sales but really, that's not much different than an interest free loan given from consumers who can collect it back whenever they choose. Seems to me that all is not as well and good with RCM as they'd like us to believe.....l
