1857 Flying Eagle Cent, Poss. Obverse Of 1856

KurtS Pillar of the Community United States 5318 Posts	Posted 01/04/2008 11:13 pm I may have finally found an 1857 obverse of 1856! By chance, I ran across this unattributed in an NGC slab, graded AU55: A few pics from the seller: I've been looking for this variety for some time, and this one appeared from nowhere. Does it look like the obverse of 1856 to you? I'm seeing the shape of the O and elongated serifs as diagnostic for this variety. I'm hoping to hear back from Rick Snow.
