I am seeking advice on getting a refund through paypal. I have never had to do this before. I purchased a coin for $185 and I have not received the coin or have I received any communication since the day I sent the money via paypal. This was not an ebay purchase and I did not pay with the "gift" option. Do I have a pretty good chance of getting my money back? How long does this process take? Thanks for any advice as I am fixing to start this adventure. Edited by Connor 07/30/2015 3:21 pm

Yes Conner, I would think that since you were smart and did NOT use friends and family you will get a refund...but that could take a little while. Maybe 2 weeks? If you haven't already open the dispute that item was never received. Paypal will contact the seller to get any tracking information they have or don't have. It should be pretty easy for you to get a refund since there has been no communication. If you requested an "invoice" include that info as well.

Simply log in to your Paypal account, then scroll down to "Resolve a Problem in Our Resolution Center", and describe your problem. Paypal will lead you from there.

How long ago did you make the purchase? Have you allowed sufficient time for the coin to be delivered?

okay...I made the purchase through paypal on July 11, 2015.
I opened a dispute. It says the response deadline is 8/18/15. If I am reading this correctly I will need to file a claim by 8/18 if it is not resolved before then. I do not want to wait until 8/18. How long would you wait before you filed the claim?

If you have just filed a dispute, then that is the deadline for buyer to respond, I believe, and you must wait until after that date to notch it up. Don't worry, Paypal won't drop you. If you have any questions, then go back to the Resolution Center and simply ask about what is worrying you.

Conner, I don't use the Resolution Center online first. First, I call Paypal directly and explain everything that has happened with this transaction thus far. If they don't see any tracking info for the item or any correspondence from the seller then chances are, they will cover your purchase.

Matt...All I am going to say at this time is that it is not the person you are referring to. I want to see how it plays out with paypal first.
Kakaratt...Thanks for that tip. I think I may call tomorrow and see where I get by going that route.

I just read that I will have to leave this in the "dispute" status for 7 days before I can escalate into a claim. I feel pretty good about getting my money back from what I am reading. There was never any tracking provided and zero communication from seller since day of sell. Not a lot to dispute here.

You can call them and probably get a refund before those 7 days if you want to.

Good news...I just heard from the seller. They had a family emergency and will be shipping the coin out today and they are going to provide me with tracking. I really wanted the coin so I am glad it is working out.
