http://cgi.ebay.com/151761978664Obverse- Not enough space between LIBERTY and hair line and set too far CCW. Reverse, STATES much too far CCW. Extremely well done retool. Buyer doesn't accept messages. Please do your magic and have it pulled. Edited by OldSkoolMadSkilz 07/30/2015 12:31 am

I have seen things like this on ebay before but when I click to report it I am not sure what category it falls under. If you choose the wrong thing I feel they don't take it seriously. When reporting fake or misrepresented coins what is the category we should be clicking on? Thanks -Adam

The built in reporting is worthless. There's nowhere to explain exactly what makes it fake, so it can't be substantiated. Bobby has a direct contact.

Interesting. The high bidder retracted. Must have given it a closer look.

I think this used to be an 1801?

When I report items, I click 'copyright,' 'counterfeit,' 'counterfeit,' and then in the description box type 'counterfeit.' Sometimes I might give a brief description. BTW, that's a pretty decent tooling job. Nice catch

Has rev of 1803 S-257. Obv is the one used for 1803 S-257 and 258. Quote: I think this used to be an 1801? Has a large fraction rev so it couldn't have been from an 1801.

When you see an 1804 cent it has to have a large fraction. There are only five large fraction dies (3 from 1803, 1 for 1804, and 1 for 1807) Then look at the gap between the ends of the wreath. On the 1804 it is just a little right of the center of the E. On all of the other four it is either below the right edge of the serif of the E or below the serif of the S. That will eliminate all the altered date pieces out there.
