to the community The coins look like they were just dug out of the ground. Where were they found. From the nice sand patina they appear to come from a desert area. The first coin appears to be a tetradrachm of the emperor Diocletian. The second is a very nice example of the Emperor Theodosius. The third looks like a lead seal I can't make out any details though, and the fourth needs some cleaning before we can tell who it might be.

The first two coin do not require any cleaning. If you soak the other two in either olive oil or distilled water for several week and that using a soft bush, bush the coin gently you should be able to bring out more detail. Looking at the last coin it might be a city commemorative VRBS ROMA struck during the time of Constantine I and his family. Egypt has some very strict laws regarding digging artifacts. Here is a brief write up on these laws. What are your plans with these? Do you intend to sell them or turn them over to the authorities? http://www.cemml.colostate.edu/cult...gyptenl.html

From your comments it is evident that you are digging artifacts illegally. This forum is for people that collect and buy coins from legal sources. We do not condone, nor do we welcome anyone that is involved in illegal activities. Therefore you are not welcome as a member of this forum.

I think that's a little harsh considering he just joined.
DO NOT sell them, asking about the price was inappropriate. Your best bet would be to give them to the authorities.

This forum has rules. Plundering ancient artifacts in countries that have strict rules against that is illegal. We are not going to condone illegal activities. IMO and by his response he knows he is breaking the law.

I'm with echizento on this one. There is no gray area here. Hopefully the op does the right thing. Doing that would make him welcome in this forum. Otherwise we'd be a den of thieves.

If he'd have said "oh man ok who do I report them to?" then he'd be in the clear, but instead he asked what he could sell them for after being told they were illegal. Good riddance.
