Got the great honor of serving on jury duty . Decided to take my lunch break at a KFC across from the courthouse. Paid cash instead of using my credit card, which is basically never, and received this in my change surprisingly. Shiniest Wheat penny I have ever found in circulation. Any thoughts on condition / grade? Edited by KevinSun242 08/03/2015 01:02 am

Very nice find. Looks like it just came out of a roll.

I'd grade it 59.995. We KNOW it has been circulated since you were given it in change

Quote: We KNOW it has been circulated since you were given it in change Just because it was found in change doesn't mean it has been circulated. Any store can get a fresh roll that has never been opened from the bank and you just happen to be the lucky person to where the cashier has to break that roll and give you some change from it. This cent looks like it was in a collection that someone deposited or spent and the OP received in change. Nice find

Fantastic find. If I were you I'd go back and buy, buy, buy and ask for change for sure.

I once heard a story about a new coin being passed around a table for everyone to see. The question at the end was, is the coin still uncirculated since so many people handled it. Technically no, it is not uncirculated. It can still be in mint condition and grade MS65 or whatever based on the condition of the coin, not it's history.

With moxking, the coin received in change has numerous hits on Lincolns head and some on reverse. but this is not the reason that it's not Mint state. also I don't buy the theory that it came out of an OBW right there in KFC. With all that said it is a great find from CIRCULATION.
