I don't think there is enough detail for an ID, nut I'll move this over to the Ancient/Medieval coin section hopefully someone will be able to ID it.

I've noticed some of the coins you're posting are in "chunks", did people "make change" by chopping these coins?

i know some medieval coins were.

chrsmat71 in this case I think not. But I have other medeival coins that are splitted in halfs or quarters to what I think to get coins with smaller value then the original. It's rather common with for example silver cross pennies.
