I received this 1907 Indian Head. It's a flashy red with strong luster, especially on the obverse, but the reverse looks a little "off" - a bit dull - to me. I've been fooled with altered colored Indians before and am looking for people's opinions on this coin.

Sorry the photos aren't better. I had to take them through the 2x2 holder in case I end up returning the coin.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Looks OK to me - I'll venture 63RB. Having a dull side isn't unusual.

Obverse looks great but maybe the photos are giving the coin a "cleaned" appearance. Can you try some more shots with different lighting to see if it brings the luster and color out better?
Right now with these photos I'd be at MS-63 details, once cleaned.

Here are a couple more photos of the reverse taken at different lighting angles.

I've examined it under my 10x loop and, the more I look at it, the more I think it is probably original . . . but . . . I'm still not positive.

Thanks for the responses. I think I'm going to return it. I paid $45 for the coin and that's too much for my pocketbook for a coin that may have been cleaned, even if lightly cleaned.

The reverse looks too dull to not have had something done to it, even if it was done a long time ago.
