Lightly circulated piece of no particular value except to you as a sentiment perhaps. These are readily available in choice UNC for five to eight dollars. Yours is a far leaf , hi relief , no shoulder fold coin.

I am sorry - I know nothing about Canadian Coins. I understand (I think) that NSF refers to serifs or lack thereof on DEI. What does NSF mean?

I think it means no or minimal serifs and that SF means with prominent serifs.

What do the letters NSF stand for? I realize that it is an acronym for some phrase.

Can someone explain?

Pete, in this case the abbreviation "NSF" stands for "No Shoulder Fold" (and "SF" naturally means "Shoulder Fold"). Basically, the Canadian Mint released two versions of the queen's appearance that year. The NSF version shows the queen with a 'bare' neck/shoulder, while the SF type shows a curved line from the back of her neck to the top of her shoulder.

There are lots of posts with abbreviations on this site that I have trouble understanding too; so I've learned to check the "Glossary" that's available in the "General" category on the left side of this screen. It's helped me quite a bit with posts that interest me.

Thanks atticguy. I, too, use the glossary and NSF was not in it, so I did a search and this was the 1st post I found using the acronym, so I thought I would ask here. Thanks to you, it worked!
