Coin Grading - NGC Modifies Vintage Chinese And Russian Coin Policy

NGC - NGC's expanded research capabilities and grading staff allow for improved coin policy.

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) has announced that vintage Chinese and Russian coins may now be submitted under any NGC grading tier provided they meet that tier's requirements. Previously, certain vintage Chinese and Russian silver, gold and platinum coins had to be submitted under the Express tier or higher due to the additional time needed to authenticate these coins.

This change, which is effective immediately, is the result of NGC's continued efforts to expand its research capabilities and team of professional graders. NGC employs nearly 30 full time professional graders as well as numerous consultants and research assistants. The collective expertise of this team, along with technology such as a state-of-the-art x-ray fluorescence spectroscope, allows NGC to stay ahead of counterfeiters and accurately authenticate coins.

"Our significant investments in staff and technology now mean that submitters of these coins will be able to take advantage of considerably lower grading fees in many cases."
