I have been in discussion with ebay about the removal of items listed on ebay.ca because a Canadian TPG company and grade were in the title or description. I have been informed that this will cease immediately and that ICCS, CCCS and BCS TPG'd material will remain untouched on this platform (eBay.ca). New tools on ebay.com will enforce the policy for that platform which means only the "approved" TPG companies will be allowed (USA companies). Please inform me of any items removed from ebay.ca with the three above mentioned TPG companies. Another win for the little guys. MM

These were listed on ebay.ca in Canadian dollars. They will cross over to ebay.com. That is the difference.

And that is what is completely unfair. It shouldn't have anything to do with where it's listed, it has to do with the rules where it's shown. There's no way that it's fair that you are allowed to list the exact same coin with the exact same title and have it show up on ebay.com and I can't. Nothing that breaks ebay.com's rules should show up on ebay.com. To think otherwise is just silly.

We did once get notified a while back that a few items we had listed on ebay.ca had been removed from ebay.com because of this but they were still on ebay.ca. I presume because somebody reported them specifically.

ebay has been removing items from ebay.ca because they do not follow ebay.com rules. Now that is silly. ebay.com shows all items listed on all platforms. As long as the items are legal and justifiable in the country of origin ebay.com should not have over riding power. Hence differing rules on counterfeits etc. I have debated that one for 9 years.

It would seem ebay's only solution may be that coins listed on ebay.ca will not appear on ebay.com because as Bobby points out, it otherwise creates a double standard that breaks ebay.com policy. Is that option preferable? I've no vested interest, just pointing out what might potentially become a "be careful what you wish for".

The policy is for Canadian coins. It then becomes an ebay.com issue. To be blunt, I could care less about Canadian sellers selling American coins. The policy of "only accepting" certain TPG companies was limited to the USA and poorly thought out and the PNG who was icluded in the policy as advisers forgot about Canadian Companies. Flawed from the get go.

Bobby, your last post has some merrit and there I agree with you. Be it coins listed on ebay.ca, .com or any other, the TPG rule for US coins could apply and I would side with not allowing US coins to be listed in ICCS holders with grades in headers as such. HOWEVER, as NG mentions, the rule was implemented with US coins in mind only and not well thought out on a global scale. As mentioned last time we had this discussion, the Europeans often use their own grading scales and have their own laws with respect to coins and their sales. Although ebay may be an American corp, it chooses to do business world wide (and somewhat shelters itself from taxes with a Swiss address) and needs to take into account the different market places it services.

I am not sure what is worse the policies of ebay itself or the current standards of the American TPG s. It should not matter a toss what is listed on ebay as long as it is properly described and breaks no reasonable laws. As stated ebay can pretend to be an American company all it wants, but when convenient chooses to set up in Switzerland and the like for tax avoidance. Slightly off topic but a couple of things come to mind. First when will ebay get over it and allow Cuban coins to be listed? Second I wonder how ebay will handle the large tax bill from the Canadian tax authorities for non billing of GST / HST on E Bay fees to Canadian sellers? There are a lot larger problems with ebay than NOT allowing ICCS coins to be described as TPG on .com . Counterfeit coins seems to be a far more pressing issue that just continues to proliferate on a daily basis, irregardless of the efforts put forth by many including members of our forum.

Are CGA (Currency Grading & Authentication) banknotes allowed under ebay.ca new policy? Yesterday I listed one on ebay.com and this morning it was pulled. Also, are CGA banknotes banned from ebay since there are almost none on ebay. Is CGA a reputable company?

Frankly I don't think anything will get pulled from ebay.ca (as it generally hasn't in the past unless due to a specific complaint). Expect your stuff to get pulled from ebay.com if the grading and TPG rule is not adhered to.
