where do you buy your pennies? I use the bank as of now, but haven't found any decent RPMs or errors. I've heard searching BU rolls can be good, but where can I find those and how do I know that I'm getting a good deal? am I better off sticking with the bank?

Depends on what you want. Do you want circulated coins or BU coins. You can check out a coin show and buy some OBW rolls or tubed. They are more than face priced. But That is what you have to do to get unsearched OBW rolls or something somebody tubed for some reason. (Possibly searched or tubed to prevent the coin wrappers toning them. Depends on the collector)

I just buy $50 bags of cents from the bank (they save them for me). It's all about the number of coins that pass under your loupe. The more you look at, combined with the knowledge of what to look for in each year/MM,the better your chances of finding something. I have been fortunate to find thousands of error/variety coins (including 23 of the LCR Top 50 Doubled Dies and 16 of the LCR Top 50 Varieties) using these bank bags. My secret lies in the shear numbers of cents I have looked at (over one million, nothing compared with some of the folks here at CCF) since I started 2 and 1/2 years ago. I hope this is helpful and don't forget to ask lots of questions in here, it is invaluable information. Good Luck in your searches!

As Sudz stated, you have to search large quantities to be successful. The best results so far have come from bank wrapped rolls/boxes. If they have customer wrapped, I take them as well. I try not to be a pain as I have a good relationship with my pick up banks. If you get solid bu rolls, go through them. So far I have 4 attributed 2015 varieties. Good luck with your search.

Years ago I would buy unc. rolls from all over, calling out of state dealers to see what they had. I liked the tubes that had tape ,yellowed with age, sealing them. It's still fun but they have gotten expensive. Back then I picked up 46-S rolls for 20 bucks. Now look at the price ! Now I mostly do customer wrapped rolls , you never know when someone has wrapped a jar full from 20 years ago !

I'm a LWC BU roll searcher. My wife and I travel regularly and I try to go to a new coin shop each trip. I usually call around just before we go and find a shop that has BU rolls available, and we plan the trip to go through the area.
