Can anyone tell me if there is a air-tite capsule that the 1.5" medals the mint sells will fit in? I find 38MM but don't know if they fit the 1.5"

Sorry if this is already out there somewhere but I couldn't find it.

Thanks,

38mm one are for Morgan, Peace Eisenhower dollars etc. Do you have one to compare in size to your metal?

Also, you can give them a call: http://www.air-tites.com/coin_size_....Vc4fSPlViko

38mm is 1.4961 inches. Medal is listed at 1.5000 inches. I couldn't find the medals listed on the air-tites web site and thought maybe someone had went through this before and could say this is the ones that fit the medals. I bought some for gifts and wanted to protect them better than the bag they come in so they will not get messed up before they can get there gift. I do have a few coins I could look at but with the small difference in the size would be hard to see without just trying a 38mm air-tite.

Only thing I'd worry about was the thickness, usually medals are a lot thicker than a coin.

If only the original mint product will work, try dealers in your local area, they may have some that they just toss out, a store I used to work at gave old holders away to anyone that asked (and bought stuff from us).

The medals are the Doolittle Raiders and New Frontier Bronze Medal 1.5 Inch that the mint sells now. These come sealed in a little plastic bag. Looks like the old mint sets. They never came in any OMP!

I am worried about the thickness as they seem to be a higher detail than a coin!

The one coin store within 100 miles of me is no Count! Can't get help and twice the price of ebay. I have known the guy for 25 years and he will not even say hi to you when you go in. I have seen him at shows and he is the same way.
I don't like going in because of it.

I hate coins stores like that! I once went to one with a person like that. When I was in the store one time, the owner once told my dad and I to leave the store for a while as he wanted to order a pizza next door. How rude!

Get an Ait-Tite with the foam ring.

It will give you some play widthwise but as someone else mentioned not sure about the height.

The 38mm direct fit Air-Tite holders are perfect for the Mint's 1.5-inch medals. I use them for all of mine.

Thanks Commems

Do you have issues with these medals getting banged up in shipping?
I only have 5 and 4 have come in the little bags as they are new releases and all 4 were just tossed in the box with other items and banged around. The other one was like a gulf war issue from 15-20 years ago and it came in a envelope to protect it. Wish they would do that for the new ones.
