FINALLY a day with much action! Today's market was full of people, and finds were to be found. Pics as follows: Two album pages for 20 SEK each. I figured I need some place to put my pile of uncirculated world coins. Turns out the two pages were PVC contaminated. I'm thinking the PVC might have seeped out for a healthy 45 years in that thing, ruining every coin inside it. The old thing interesting in it was a 1889-A 1 Pfennig coin, Germany. After a while of cleaning (acid, rubbing with cloth and rinse with water) it wasn't PVC-sticky anymore. The coin's no rarity but a welcomed addition nonetheless. Any suggestions what to do with the album pages that I bought specifically despite being coated in PVC? Anyway, the REAL treasure of the week month For 38 SEK I got: Some kind of brass game token w/ queen Victoria 1 Öre, Sweden 1858 (x2), 1871 5 Öre, Sweden 1898 50 Markkaa, Finland 1955 1 Qirsh, Egypt 1876 (with drill hole ) 1/12 Skilling, Sweden 1803 1/3 Skilling Banco, Sweden 1837 2 Öre, Sweden 1860 (VERY beaten up!) 5 Öre, Sweden 1907 200 Pesos, Colombia 1994 (That 1 Pfennig coin from prevous paragraph) 2 Pfennig, Germany 1874-A 1 Dollar, Canada 1987 1 Lev, Bulgaria 2002 5 tambala, Malawi 2003 1 Markka, Finland 1924 ˝ New Sheqel, Israel (no idea about date) 10 Kroner, Norway 1995 ˝ Dinar, Tunisia 1976 (x2) 1 Penni, Finland 1921 And lastly, a mystery coin I'll be throwing this up in the ID forum, my research and knowledge can't cover this piece. See you next week

Trash the pages. The best thing for the coins would be a soak in acetone, followed by another soak in fresh acetone. No need to rinse with water, the fresh acetone will evaporate. Nice finds though.

To add to my last post, the 'unknown old coin' turned out to be a Livonian (Latvian) Solidus of 1650. Winter has set in with subzero temperatures which was noticable while being outside today. That didn't stop any market action. A shining sun didn't do much for warming up, but it sure brought out some people to sell and buy. Weather aside, I'm fairly sure the 'action' season is coming to a late end. Many people had started selling their christmas items already which were taking up table space. I expect it to be worse next week. Speaking of next week, I'm going to a coin show on Saturday, I'll probably have got my fix for a while (money-wise) by then so don't expect to see anything here next week. Hopefully the weather gods are nice to us the coming weeks so the market activity can keep up. Let's just wait and see. As for today, spent 20 SEk on the following ten pieces: 20 Rappen, Switzerland 1894 1 dirty Frank, Switzerland 1970 50 Krónur, Iceland 1987 2 Cents, Belgium 1911 (Dutch text) 20 Pence, UK 1983 Another mystery coin! 10 Öre, Sweden 1950 ˝ Öre, Sweden 1857 1 Öre, Sweden 1858 2 Öre, Sweden 1864 (mercury coated, slightly magnetic) See you next time

Although I definitely got my fix from yesterday's coin show in Stockholm, I had business to do in city and figured I'd drop by Hötorget. I quickly found a coin seller who had these three coins for me for 1 SEK each: 5 cents (Shield nickel!), US 1868 with a Cud covering lower parts of the date. 10 Öre, Sweden 1930 & 1935, all silver I had a quickly look for other coin sellers but it started to rain and I was gone quite quickly. The weather gods did not have mercy Thanks for all kind comments, they really keep me motivated!

Not much today. Some sellers but only one with coins. A single coin for 5 SEK was today's acquisition. 5 Cents, Netherlands 1914 A nice little square coin, something I've been looking for a while now.
