Quote: Someone's pathetic decision to flood the market with different Odin coins.......
Not too long ago, in a time before RCM began minting everything and anything from soup to nuts, private mints in Canada also sold speciality collector coins (medals/medallions), for example Lombardo Mint in Mississauga, Ont. But I think it's fair to say RCM - a Canadian Crown Corp - took over that business. In the U.S. it appears the U.S. Mint has retained their traditional and historical line of mint business, much like UK. Therefore private mints are still able to produce collector medals that they perceive will capture interest. I don't see free enterprise to be "flooding the market" whatsoever. If that was the case, companies would soon go bankrupt for lack of buyers. If anything RCM has flooded the market in Canada with too much of everything - thereby removing virtually all competition. Some might even say that's a good example of our country's trend towards socialism......

Thanks to MoneyPenney, by pointing out that Coins.4.Fun has some new coins from September release.
Brakeman is "cool", but I like the trains and would prefer to see some "ghost-train" or similar.
2015 Canada Flanders Field 100 Anniversary One Dollar Pure Silver Coin Enamel Commems and other SD collectors will be happy. Mintage isn't low (it low in SD standards), interesting, will it be available later.
PS: and what about "Odin" coins? The rush day is over, after all just another coin with same style as we saw previously. And this one issued in 3 series...for someone who still be interested to get this overpriced piece - there is a lot of choice from everywhere.

Quote: Someone's pathetic decision to flood the market with different Odin coins....... I agree that there's a flood of Odin coins. That being said, I like the 3oz coin and ordered a few. I take the 3oz coins over any of the RCM Sept release coin. NZMint is also releasing Star War coins today. I personally prefer these two releases over the RCM Sept release. RCM will have to take a backseat for this month release.

But RCM themes (couple of them) "more related" Added: Took a look at Darth Vader coin on the AgAuNews....it better than in 2011, the designer tried, but imo, there is no power no character no mystery feels in that Darth Vader....bit fanny his mask looks like on the coin Might be not "funny" but plain.

@Alex: Check Coins.4.Fun ebay listings. There is a picture, and seller wrote "enameled" - you can trust this. Forgot to mention: Double-dated, with George V on the obverse.

I will purchase the Flander's Field enamel silver dollar. The pic on ebay looks nice.

The 10oz looks good and is well presented in a nice wooden box. With only 500 mintage, it should sell out quickly but there is no way I can get my head around $900 for 10 ounces of au. Still, it's more reasonable IMO than the $550 5oz issued earlier this year.
I went for just the silver dollar to maintain my SD collection. That's the first NCLT coin I have ordered in many months.

I purchased one of the one-ounce $20 Flanders Fields coins when it came out earlier in the year - it continues to be my favorite 2015 RCM NCLT release. Those two will be enough for me in terms of FF-themed coins.

Quote:but the for NCLT / bullion for sure RCM pays kind of "license fees" for using Queens' portrait. Never thought about it before but this made me curious so I wrote and asked them. They replied: "Thank you for contacting the Royal Canadian Mint. With regards to your inquiry, please note that we do not make any payments to the Queen to use her effigy."
