I just paid $500 for this set and it doesn't have the COA. It does have 2 pieces of paper for gift giving purposes. One in English and one in French. Does this set come with the yellow COA that usually comes with all coins? Can you check your sets? I'm really hoping it doesn't because off to search for a new set if it does have one.

If I recall correctly. the piece of paper to be used to keep the baby's detail is the COA. it was most likely not serialized.

My set is the same as yours so that's probably how it was issued.

Quote: I just paid $500 for this set Wow... is it worth that much now?

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1-2007-Silve...261677447347The only full set available on ebay as of now. The other one has no outer box. It was recently selling for 1300$ with best offer being accepted. 500$ is a very good deal, and yes confirmed, that set was never serialized.

Will you be able to post photos, as I forget what the set looks like. I do enjoy looking at photos of members coins!! It's one of the best parts of the forum. Is there any estimate of how many sets were minted? I do know 2007 was a low mint year. It's too bad we don't have those low mintages again.

Hi pocket change50, this is from the 2015 Charlton for 2007 silver loonies. With the high mintage of the ABC blocks I'd expect to see some listed on ebay but don't. 2007 Wedding set - 849 2007 ABC Building Blocks - 3229 2007 Gold plated Baby Rattle - 1911 2007 Baby Rattle - 3207

Here are my thoughts. These were mostly bought in post office retail outlets, for those who had kids born in 2007 and 2008 or as wedding gifts - I remember seeing them in my old post office. Most coin collectors and even dealers shunned them, they looked, well, anything but numismatic. People who received them as gifts, probably squirrelled them away with other 2007 mementos from the child's birth year... these were basically minted on demand, and there was no demand...

Pocket_change, welcome back! Quote: Most coin collectors and even dealers shunned them, they looked, well, anything but numismatic. So did they became "more" numismatic due to low final mintage?

SPP-Ottawa. The mintage numbers in Charlton may be a bit high? I do have all 4 sets and it seems if you have the cash to throw at them, they do appear...although as I have observed the ABC Building Blocks seem rare.

One would think at recent prices, they would emerge from the all the keepsakes places.

I think maybe more aren't popping up is due to non coin collectors, not realizing the value of the set. If I get a collectable gift I don't run to see what it's worth later, as I may have forgotten I own it. I would wonder how many people not into numismatics would know where to find or care to find out the value of the set?
I think it's great that a few non circulation coins have appreciated, it's sure not true of coins since 2013. I wonder what the next 5 yrs will hold in store. I always enjoy reading about the 2007 coins. The year appears to be a real anomaly among coin years.
Thanks, Silveroid, I'm glad to be back of 4 months in hospital. I've got a lot to catch up.

The only way these unique loonies keep their values is to have say PCGS grade a few with the mintage on the label to validate the low mintage, all these sets value is based only on the low loonie mintage. With PCGS you have to pay extra for label designation not sure with ICCS
