Two people in Poland say they may have found a Nazi train rumoured to be full of gold, gems and guns that disappeared in World War Two, Polish media say. The train is believed to have gone missing near what is now the Polish city of Wroclaw as Soviet forces approached in 1945. A law firm in south-west Poland says it has been contacted by two men who have discovered the armoured train. Polish media say the men want 10% of the value of the train's contents. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-33994483Bearish for gold?

Interesting story.
I remember watching a documentary about 50 tonnes of gold that was buried in the forest by an army regiment near the end of the war. One went back and moved the gold shortly before being killed. This captured many peoples imagination and a letter by the soldier hinted that it may be in the mountains somewhere... clearly this is a different batch of gold but I can see what spurs on archaeologists searching for tombs or other such treasure hunters.
Of course we must remember the suffering too which was the source of the gold... how many wedding rings confiscated or gold teeth melted down.

Surprising those two guys only want 10%. How can a train go undiscovered for all those years, unless it was covered with debris.

I would not be surprised if this story turned out to be true, the Nazi hide huge amounts of gold that still have not been found. Could of hid it in a tunnel, used explosive to block the tunnel entrance. To this day many pieces of artwork is still missing, gold, silver from when the Nazi looted country's. Why only 10%? Maybe because that's what the law say's the finder fee is for recovering Nazi PM, if they ask for more maybe they end up in a court battle. Law firm must of looked into the law concerning this type of find. DavidUK we can not forget what the Nazi did, and where some of the gold came from, dark chapter in the history of the world

The Nazis must have done very well to have successfully hide a whole train, without it being discovered for seven decades! There must have been some very honest Nazis to keep such a secret for so long.

Or dead Nazis, still seems odd to be "found" this long down the road.

I would take 10% of the contents of the hoard AND the whole train. Not sure what I would do with a war surplus locomotive, but if the boxcars are in good condition they can be refurbished for a nice guest house, green house, workshop or something. How cool would it be if there is a caboose too? Oh I would definately want some track rails as well for any cars that still have wills to use the rails in the foundation.
300 tonnes of gold @ 10%, yeah I could do a lot with those train cars. Forget Lionel train sets I will have the real thing in my back yard! No better still, get vintage Lionel train sets and put them inside the real train!

I personally would want no/none of the contents of this train, not even a check if that's the way it's settled. Think of the people killed and tortured for this gold if the story ends up being true. I would hope all proceeds would go to the families and such whose lives were destroyed by the Nazis. Anyone who thinks of finding and keeping Nazi war loot is sick IMHO!

Polish law entitles them to 10%. The train was hidden for so long as it was found in a hidden tunnel. Can have up to 300 tonnes of gold, but very well could be empty. It was last seen going into the tunnel. They had numerous tunnels, some now open for tourists. It most likely was emptied and moved elsewhere while in the tunnel. But even an empty train with gun turrets on the side has to have some value!

This is a really interesting story, almost impatient to see the way it turns out.
