I just started collecting the new presidential one dollar coins. I bought my first mint roll of the Washington dollars. I am thinking of collecting the entire set. I have seen them offered by PCS. Is there anyone out there that has received coins from them and are they worth the price?

First, Welcome to the Forum.
Are you thinking of collecting just rolls or individual coins.
To answer your question, I am unfamiliar with PCS.

Tracker, Check your bank and other banks......you can get uncirculated rolls wrapped by the U.S. Mint of each President every time they come out. Some may still have plenty of the already released ones. There is NO EXTRA COST FROM A BANK. It's even money.......$25.00 for a $25.00 roll. You can also go online at the U.S. Mint website and order these. I don't know if they will still have all four Presidents though. And their prices are $37.00 or so per roll. If they still have certain items in stock, they will continue to sell them until their gone, sometimes quite some time after it has been released.

WELCOME. If your just interested in collecting them, I suggest you just go to banks and buy them for face value. It may take some time to acquire them all this way, but if your not in a hurry, you'ld save lots and lots of money. Buying them from any organization is just throwing money away since they too probably just bought rolls from banks for face value. If your plans are to someday have a collection worth a lot of money with those baby sized dollars, forget it. Way to many people thinking the same thing. They will always be worth a dollar though and the interest in our presidents is always a nice educational touch. Good luck. Try the US Mints web site and you may acquire some great deals in those and at a more perfect grade.

I agree with others here. Go to your bank and ask for rolls of them. They usually have the president printed on the roll too, so it's easy to get what you need. You can also trade for the other mint here without much trouble (if you get "D" you'll always have takers.)

tracker, There are also people on this forum that collect them and we trade with each other. This gives you the possibility of getting each of them for face value. Since you're trading, no shipping is charged, so you don't have to pay an extra $5.95 per coin. There are rules about trading though so pay attention to them before engaging in the act! Also,

what you could also do if you are collecting the rolls is order them from the mint as they come out.

I've found them at my bank as well, the only pitfall I've seen is that the mintage is on the edge and not anywhere on the wrapper so be careful (unlike me) and mark the mintage somewhere on the roll.

The first roll I bought was at face value and I had the teller stamp them for authenticity. Don't know if that was a good idea or not, but what's done is done. Thanks to all for the info. Sounds like I'll be increasing my trips to the bank.

I wish I could get some at my local bank. I can find 79" rolls of s.b.s.'s, lots of them containg the near date wide rim. I have alot of the adam's dollar errors though. not puicked up at face I suggest the cheapest way possible. there not ever going to be rare or anything,(the high grade ones will though). Good luck and god speed...
