It's Kosta s own stuff . He is just advertising some of the rarities he has for sale. Hardly a prominent collection out of BC for sale. Bluenose has handled many rarities over the years. Really good guy.

I have purchased some coins from there (< $100). Pretty happy with the purchase. The 1921 50 cent piece was advertised in CCN at the time.

I have held the 1921 50c in hand, at coin shows... it really does take your breath away...

Help me understand more about strike quality and it's relationship as one of the factors when grading high end coins. As well are certain years and series considered to have poor strikes and this being the norm for those, do light strikes have less bearing on final grade? I am looking at the 21 half (beautiful) but it appears that the middle jewel on the crown band above the ear is somewhat of a weak strike, comparing to some other high end examples of the same monarch.....It is said there are no stupid questions in the quest for knowledge.

You bring up a great point. The study of Canadian coins and their characteristics is pretty infantile compared to our American counterparts. In US numismatics there are in depth studies on every series of classic US coins. In Canada for the most part you are pretty much on your own past the basics found in the Standard catalogue and some variety sections.
Years of hands on knowledge and looking at thousands of coins within a series is pretty much the only way to acquire in depth knowledge of what coins are well struck or weakly struck. Connoisseurship has never been much of a priority for most collectors or dealers of Canadian decimal coinage. In the past few years it has improved somewhat but not to the degree where let's say you would have a year by year study of Canadian Silver Dollars and their year by year characteristics. In the U.S. By comparison the excellent book on Morgan dollars by Q. David Bowers in its third or fourth edition.
Good luck in your quest for knowledge , and you are right there are no stupid questions. Hope this helps. JN
