US Mint - WASHINGTON - The United States Mint will open sales for the 2015 First Spouse Series One-Half Ounce Gold Coins - Lady Bird Johnson on Aug. 27 at noon Eastern Time (ET).
The obverse (heads side) design features a stunning portrait of Mrs. Johnson with the inscriptions "LADY BIRD JOHNSON," "IN GOD WE TRUST," "LIBERTY," "2015," "36th," and "1963-1969." The obverse was designed by United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) artist Linda Fox and sculpted by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Michael Gaudioso.
The reverse (tails side) depicts the Jefferson Memorial, Washington Monument, and flowers referencing Mrs. Johnson's efforts in the beautification and conservation of America, which began in Washington, D.C. Inscriptions are "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "$10," "1/2 OZ." ".9999 FINE GOLD," and "BEAUTIFY OUR CITIES, PARKS & HIGHWAYS." The reverse was designed by AIP artist
Chris Costello and sculpted by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver
Renata Gordon.

The Lady Bird Johnson First Spouse Gold Coins are being struck at the United States Mint's West Point facility in proof (product code JQ7) and uncirculated (product code JQ8) qualities. Mintage will be limited to no more than 10,000 units across all product options, with customer demand determining the ratio of proof coins to uncirculated coins produced.
