Frank Thomas Indian Head Collection

In 1972-73 I was fresh out of college (UC Santa Barbara) and I worked at an investment firm with a man named Frank Thomas. He was probably 40 years older than I (I'm 64 now) and we became friendly (it was a small office). I think I mentioned to him that I collected stamps and he said that he had a coin collection, would I like to see it? I said sure. So one day, during our lunch hour, we walked down to a local bank and he opened a safe deposit box that housed his collection. All I recall was what looked like a custom made lucite holder that was filled with proof indian head pennies. He told me his collection was complete and I recall him pointing out the key (1877-S isn't it?). I remember thinking he ought to store his coins better because the coins were toning kind of dramatically. Does anyone know what became of my co-worker. I see slabbed coins marked "Frank Thomas Collection" so I'm guessing, if it's one and the same, at some point he probably died and his heirs auctioned off his coins and he got his own catalog. Guessing it was a while back.
