I've never heard anyone describe these pieces as having a "chess motif". But now, that's probably what I'm going to think of whenever I see one.

I could see the eight pawns easily enough... but the fat one in back, is that the king or the queen? Or both? Tall and skinny behind short and portly? Very cryptic.
