This is the mint mark on a 1992 penny and I was wondering that you thought it was? I was surprised at how well I took the pic for it being my first time also.

The grey area is the zinc core of the cent. The copper plating split exposing it and it is relatively common with no extra value.

Oh man...is this the future of Lincoln collecting? Rampant zinc oxide all over pennies? That's an unstable scenario for anything of possible value! Sorry, rant off!

Yeah...it looks like a sheared mm to me too.
