New to this... Looks to me like a crack! Normal wear or error? It is in good condition. Best I could do with pictures. Any information is appreciated.

In older pieces it is typical because they used the dies till they broke and as long as the coin was of the proper weight and was recognized, it was released to circulation. It has some premium to error collectors, not a huge one. Newer mints, including US mints have a high quality assurance standard and far fewer major errors escape, which is why it is so thrilling to find one.
