Anyone have an idea on the value of this coin considering the damage?

Assuming the coin is genuine, and it probably is genuine, then it would go as AU details with a mount removed and surface damage. As such the value would be around $200 retail.

Do you think the rim damage is from a mount removed?

Yes, that is the usual explanation for rim damage like this, especially when located in the 6:00 or 12:00 position. The coin was likely mounted as a pendant, watch fob, or charm bracelet ornament.
