1970-S Proof Set Green, Fogged ?

I recently sold some proof sets and my buyer claimed the 1970s sealed proof set is worthless due to it being fogged and green.
I have never heard of this terminology before and I have no idea to what he is referring to.
Any one have thoughts on this matter.

The sets are not airtight so they turn foggy and can get green on the coins.

Where were the sets stored? Environmental damage.

Sorry no photos of the sets out of their packages. Out of the 5 sets sold only 1 apparently had this condition and I keep them stored in a closet. I live in the southwest and we do not have much humidity here. I did check all the sets before I sent them out and I did not see any problems.
