I was talking to coin dealer and we ended up at silver rounds and the shortage of them, he believes the shortage is due because most of the scrape silver has been turned in. The younger people are not holding on to it's family silver but selling it, and they are not buying silverware for use like the older generation has.
If this true.... Then what he say's has to stop and make you think, there is only so much scrap silver out there, many years of people dumping it at some point the scrape silver is going to dry up. The dealer mentioned he is in need of 1000 pounds of scrape silver to fill orders he has on hold.

The hoarders hoarded all the junk silver? It would be nice if they make a real time show like that, but that would sure get the thief attention.

Kinda makes sense... I was in a shop that buys and sells gold/silver bullion maples/ase/bars /scrap etc etc a few days ago and I over heard a guy on the phone telling a customer that he was having a hard time getting Silver Maples in to resell.

Interesting times atm.

Interesting, I wonder if other areas are having shortages.

I work at a coin shop in Florida. We take scrap gold and silver
in to be melted a couple times a week. Some weeks we melt
more than others.

We are having problems getting silver rounds, coins and bars.

I have been trying to buy 5 to 10oz a week for myself, but it
Is getting hard, because it is not available.

No scrape no silver dollars, if you don't have it you can't make it, running out of scrape silver has never happened before. So everyone sitting around wondering what to do about it, will be interesting to see what happens

Try a refinery; they have oodles. It's out there somewhere and that's where it is. I have a hard time believing there is a shortage of anything but honest people.

I have e-mailed 3 refinery inquiring about the 2015 Silver Maples, why e-mail? Because that is what I was asked to do when I called the refinery, please e-mail us your question and someone will get back to you.
Once I receive an answer I will post it

Probably for security reasons as they do not deal with the public.

Why not ask the mint itself?
