For storing my Silver Dollars, I use Quadrum holders along
with the Lighthouse case made for them.

Love these cases - just bought 3 a few weeks ago on sale from Canadian Coin. One for Silver Dollars 1935 -2015 and one for each of my Proof, Specimen and PL Loonies and Toonies

Actually there are 3 for 2015

2015 Canada Proof $1 Dollar Coin Canadian Flag Pure Silver
2015 Canada Proof $1 Dollar Coin Canadian Flag Pure Silver w Enameled Flag
and the new 2015 Flanders Field Dollar

The only years that did not have a silver dollar after 1945 I believe are 1968, 1969 and 1970

I have some questions for those using the Quadrum 2x2's for Canadian Silver Dollars. Does this holder securely hold the coin in place to prevent movement/rotation of the coin in the holder? Do these Quadrum 2x2 holders close properly, providing enough room for the thickness of Canadian Silver Dollars? Has anyone tried these holders with Canadian Nickel Dollars, if so, how did they fit?

Yes, yes and yes.
Nickel Dollars use the 32mm size.

I am now leaning towards the Lighthouse Everslab capsules. They are not square but rectagular the size of NGC/PCGS slabs and have a place for labeling card. They will fit in third party slab boxes or trays so I don't have to crack open existing plastic slabs.

Speaking of boxes or trays, what are the pros and cons? The boxes have slots for each slab, are more compact and cost less than a tray set up for the same quantity.

But with the slots in the box you can't see the coins. You have to remove each slab. Anyone tried either or both - be it Everslab or not - just want to hear the pros oand cons of boxes with slots versus stacked trays. I am leaning towards the 50 slab Lighthouse box. It does not seem like a big deal to take them out one at a time to view but will I tire of that and wish I had the trays?

I've found this case to be great for long term display. The case is a little weak and hard to get the capsules out of.

CS: IMO, your approach is probably the best for a date set for condition range AU55 to about MS63.

Below that condition range, perhaps Mylar / cardboard 2x2's in NON PVC album pages is the best approach, and above MS63, parhaps all slabbed would be the best.

More thinking needed, if the condition range is perhaps Fine to MS65.
I would probably use all three storage methods mentioned above, in such a situation
