I picked up some proof sets last week, and one set has Blue Funk. I've seen blue and green stuff on copper coins, but nothing like this on clad coins, or in proof sets. Anybody know what it might be, or if it's contagious? All comments and suggestions are welcome. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

To me it looks like toning from improper storage. I suspect not contagious, but not sure. I'd just leave the coins in the OGP. They look kinda cool, especially that nickel.

Yup that's kind of how clad proofs tend to tone, with that milky iridescense. This set looks exceptional for what it is and I bet it would bring a nice premium if you used that pic to sell it on the bay

Normal toning. The lens is not air tight, so the coins will tone depending on how and where the set is stored.

Toning, seen it many times before. I consider it to be ugly and the coins damaged. To me they wouldn't be worth much more than face value.

I, too, would vote for damaged and unappealing, but you've also heard that others may pay a premium.

Me too. Most unusual example.

Thanks everybody, I would never thought it was natural toning.
