I have these two Carausius coins and as has already been stated, most of his coins (that I can afford) are not that pretty. I think that I have attributed the first coin correctly, (please feel free to correct me if I am wrong) but the second coin has the better of me for the time being. Can you help me with it, please? Carausius Antoninianus, Struck 291 A.D., AE24 x 20 mm, 3.2 gm, Obv: IMP CARAVSIVS P F AVG, radiate & cuirassed bust right Rev: FELICITAS SEC (sic), Felicitas standing left, holding long caduceus & cornucopiae; B-E across fields, In exe. MLXXI. RIC V pt. 2, 31; (Help Required.) If it is a Carausius, Antoninianus, AE22 mm., 3.5 gm, Obv: IMP CARAVSIVS PF AVG, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right. Rev: TEMPORVM FELIC, Felicitas standing left, holding caduceus and cornucopiae. Mintmark C. Camulodunum mint. Then it is RIC.V2.421. But I am not sure. Can anyone help, please?

Both are readably PAX AVG (though the bottom has a blundered legend). Top is RIC V-2 London 98 (the mint mark is either MLXX or MLXXI, both have this refernece, obverse legend is IMP C CARAVSIVS PF AVG). Bottom is too beaten up to get a proper reference for but is certainly Pax (you can see the X between the olive branch and Pax's head), with some errors to the reverse legend (you can see the tightly bunched VG of AVG). Given the spacing on the obverse, I reckon the legend is IMP CARAVSIVS PF AVG. PAX AVGs with no mint mark and no field markings, with that legend and bust, are given the reference RIC V-2 Uncertain British Mint 880.

Thanks, Ben. I am glad you stopped in. I was wrong on both counts, then? I was using Wildwinds as a 'Reference', albeit an 'incomplete' one, and I 'totally' missed the 'C' in the obverse legend (of the first coin), that started me seeing things that weren't there. With the second one, I thought that I could see an 'I C' at the end of the reverse legend which (again at Wildwinds) caused me to look at the 'TEMPORUM FELIC' legend being the only one to end in 'I C'. Thanks for putting me straight.
(Tomorrow, I get out one of my 'Trajan' treasures.)

Unless my eyes deceive me there appears to be a second partial arc of beading just above the primary beading at the bottom of the reverse of coin #2. It follows the curve of the primary, and suggests (to me) that this coin may have been at least partially double struck.

@ PishPash. I know what you mean, but no. This is a 'new' coin.
Thanks, Irbguy. I am looking at what you see, and it certainly does look like there may have been a 'double-strike'.

Carausian coins are very difficult to get the hang of - he pumped out many many designs and many legends. My advice is to start out with the assumption that your coin shows PAX (most do) and work from there. Luckily Pax is quite a recognisable one, even when cut by a barbarian, due to the olive branch and the break that leaves the X between Pax's arm and head.
It doesn't help that many of them have the whole floppy, bendy arm thing going on - that often gets ascribed as a cornucopia, which isn't seen so commonly with Pax. And further to that, it doesn't help that many of the legends are really poorly cut.
With regard to the extra beading, it could be many things. Given the lack of doubling anywhere else, Id probably rule that out. Often Pax is shown standing on a patch of ground (id favour this idea), but it may also be an undertype showing through - Carausius' early issues were struck over official coinage and copied the official coinage (one day I will get a Carausius/SAECVLARES piece...one day).
