I recently purchased a lot of 21 uncleaned coin for about $18. As I've worked on cleaning them most are slugs, but there was one that cleaned up to be a nice surprise. It is an AE-16 from Zeugitania/Carthage with Tanit's head on the obverse and a horse standing right in front of a palm tree on the reverse. While the surfaces are a bit rough, the details are very nice for the type. I wasn't expecting this in a group of fourth century uncleaned Roman bronzes. Paul Bulgerin

What a cool surprise. Well centered too. Congrats!
I love coins from Carthage. I have one of the same type, but paid three times as much.

Wow, really nice. Congrats. I understand that finding a gem in the rough is less common these days when dealing with uncleaned lots, since such lots are often picked over pretty carefully in advance. I know more promising coins are sometimes culled out. This beauty must have really been buried under a lot of crud.

Nothing showed at all when I got it. It was heavily dirt-covered.

I love coins from carthage, its was the biggest rival of Rome in the early ages. The price is what this coin is worth so very good deal!

Paul, you have done a great job of liberating this coin from its shroud. Now it is a delight to behold. Keep it safe from predatory airborne metal eating toxins, and enjoy.

It's had a nice coat of Renaissance Wax applied to it.

In that condition, worth the price of the lot! The other 20 coins are a bonus !
