Hello!

After seeing comments in the previous post of mine, I still have one question.

How do I exactly collect them? There are so many types and they are unlike modern coins which have a date on them and the coppers all look almost the same. Please help!
Maybe you could specify which type of copper cash is good to go, that would help alot

P.S Links would be greatly appreciated. I also DO NOT want to buy coins that will cost me alot.
-> BTW I do not need buying links (ebay...etc)

This may be one of the times when buying the book first may help.

David Hartill - cast Chinese coins is pretty good
David Jen Chinese Cash is fine - and probably a bit cheaper
S - Schjoth - Chinese Currency is old but still heavily quoted. Probably the least accurate in terms of info but second hand copies should be around fairly cheaply

Okay. There are several ways you can collect cash coins. Here are some suggestions:

- Build a complete set of emperor reign titles from the major dynasties (Tang, Song, Ming, Qing)

- Same as above, but also include some reign titles from the minor dynasties (Yuan, Jin, Xia, Northern Zhou, Southern Tang, Ming Rebels, Yuan Rebels, etc.)

- Build a set of coins from every single dynasty (depends on how thorough you want to be)

- Build a date set of Southern Song cash coins (these are dated by reign years)

- Just acquire as many different cheap cash as you can (basically get a little bit of everything)

- Specialize in one dynasty or era (for example Song Dynasty coins)
