I bought this coin recently when I was visiting Oslo. The seller had no idea about and I dont have a lot of knowledge about it, but I believe it to be a greek coin. The coin is in really bad shape but I only paid 10 bucks for it so I can't complain.
On the obverse of the coin you have a portrait and some letters below it. Looks like greek letters to me.
On the reverse you see an eagle (bird?) standing on something. Under the right wing I can see an "A" and under the left wing theres a 90 degree angle that looks like an "r"
Can it be Egyptian? Ive seen they use a lot of eagles on their coins? Ive searched the web for several hours but cant seem to find out much about it..
Thanks Bob (and coinsintherough). You, and a number of others have helped me, so on those (very rare) occasions that I am able to give something back, I feel the 'glow of satisfaction'.
